Market observation and safety warning!
We have discovered that there may be units on the market that originate from manufacturers outside the European Union. These products may not fully comply with the strict EU safety requirements, including the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) guidelines, AD2000 standards and CE, and the German TÜV SÜD.
Recommendations for purchase
When purchasing alkaline hydrolysis units, we strongly advise you to verify the following aspects:
- Full certification in accordance with EU directives
- X-ray certificates for all welds
- Current qualification certificates for the welders involved
- Correct calculation and dimensioning of safety devices (blow-off valve, etc.)
- Material certificates and traceability
Safety risks
These units operate under extreme conditions: temperatures up to 190°C and pressures up to 11 bar, processing corrosive liquids, vapors and gases. The use of inadequate materials or insufficient manufacturing quality can lead to serious safety situations. Are unsuitable materials used, in the system that encounter concentrated H2SO4/sulfuric acid, then the formation of H2 hydrogen gas is possible, with risk of explosions.
Government contact and transparency
In line with our responsibility for the safety of businesses and consumers, we have reported our findings to the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) and the Dutch Nederlandse Arbeidsinspectie.
The NVWA advised us to forward this file to them for further investigation, and we did. We have invited Nederlandse Arbeidsinspectie to assess our own units, but also other products on the market to obtain a complete picture of the market situation.

We therefore apply only the highest quality standards in our production, which, although it entails higher costs, is essential for safe business operations.
Conclusion
We worry that some manufacturers of units for alkaline hydrolysis units lack the technical knowledge or are purposely cutting costs at the expense of safety.
