A dignified, safe and sustainable farewell – that is AlkaEco’s aim. AlkaEco supplies technologically high-quality, emission-free systems in which FAIR coffins’ recyclable funeral coffins can be carried. We thus offer the funeral industry a complete alternative to burial and cremation.
AlkaEco is not the only player in the field of resomination. So what makes us so special?
The team behind AlkaEco consists of fifteen specialists with years of experience in the chemical, bioorganic, medical and aerospace industries. Founder and innovator Luc de Haan (Netherlands and Germany) and SEO Maria Theresa Esperanza Clemente are the driving forces behind our team. Support and advice we receive from professor of bio-organic chemistry and former director of DSM, Unilever and FrieslandCampina, Prof Emmo Meijer. In other words, next-of-kin can rest assured that there is a highly competent team at the basis of this new method of body burial. We have also entered into cooperation with FAIR coffins. Their recyclable funeral coffin can be fed into our Alka Eco Human. This makes our unit the only one in the world where bereaved families can choose a coffin in addition to a wade.
The AlkaEco team works from the core values of dignity, safety and sustainability. How do customers see this reflected?
First: we offer a greener, more eco-friendly and cheaper alternative so that people can make an informed eco-friendly choice at the end of their lives. Second: we offer people choices for their farewell. Third: we contribute to a healthier environment with a method that is likely to become law in the near future. Alka Eco Liquification is a new method of body burial. The method was declared non-controversial by the government this autumn and is likely to be enshrined in law this year.
So what makes the AlkaEco unit so special?
Alka Eco Liquification is done under high pressure in water with chemicals. The higher the pressure, the better and faster the body dissolves. AlkaEco has optimized that technique. Dissolving is done at 11 bars at 190 degrees Celsius. The recomposition time is about 2.5 hours. This means we comply with all European regulations. In addition, our Systems are made in the Netherlands and Germany, allowing us to follow the production process closely.
Why is this innovative technique so important?
We have developed the technology further so that seized drugs can also be destroyed emission-free. Because the tank can be used at the discovery site itself, drug transport is a thing of the past. And finally, another innovation: drugs that are past their expiry date can also be destroyed emission-free.
